چکیده
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to assess magnetic resonance (MR) imaging findings of malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) of bone and to evaluatethe role ofcontrast-enhanced MR imaging in thediagnosis of bone MFH. Materialsand Methods: MR imagingsof pathologicallyproven bone MFH inten patients were reviewed. Enhanced study was also performed with Gd-DTPA. The MR images were evaluated for signal intensity, homogeneity, marginal definition, presence of internal septation, cortical destruction, soft tissue extension, joint involvement and contrast enhancement. Results: Tumors showed isoor slightly high signal intensity to muscle on T1-weighted images and heterogeneously high signal intensity on T2-weighted images. Four cases showed poor-marginated border on T2-weighted images and four cases had internal septa. Eight of nine patients with intravenous administration of Gd-DTPA showed contrast enhancement, five were heterogeneous and three were homogeneous. AII cases showed cortical destruction and soft tissue extension. Five cases showed joint involvement. Conclusion: Bone MFH showed similar MR imaging findings ofsofttissue MFH or other malignant bone tumors, butjoint involvement was suggestive finding of bone MFH.

Case Description- A pigeon with an abnormal mass on right wing was referred to the Veterinary Clinic of Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman. Treatment and Outcome- The mass was removed surgically and histopathologic examination was done. Microscopic findings revealed a stori-form pattern of atypical and pleomorphic spindle-shape tumor cells with histiocytes and too many thick wall capillari...
متن کاملRothmund-Thomson Syndrome with Malignant Fibrous Histiocytoma: Report of a Case and Review of Literature
Rothmund–Thomson syndrome is a rare autosomal recessive genodermatosis characterized by early onset of poikiloderma and several other cutaneous and organ involvements. We are going to report a 14-year-old girl who has been diagnosed with Rothmund– Thomson syndrome since she was 3 years old and has been suffering from pain and swelling of the right elbow and forearm for about 6 months. There are...
متن کاملMalignant fibrous histiocytoma of the temporal bone with endocranial extension.
Cranial malignant fibrous histiocytomas are rare tumors. Most are hypervascular, destructive masses that are similar to other malignant lesions and to malignant fibrous histiocytomas found elsewhere in the body. We describe a myxoid malignant fibrous histiocytoma of the temporal bone, possibly of dural origin, with features that more closely resembled a meningioma at CT, MR imaging, and angiogr...
متن کاملMetachronous Malignant Fibrous Histiocytoma- A Rare Case Report
Malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) is one of the most common types of soft tissue sarcomas in adults. Distant metastases are developed in 30–40% of patients with MFH, with the most common site being the lung. However, metachronous MFH has not been reported previously in literature. This report describes a case of a 30-year-old man, who had two metachronous thigh tumors, both of which were con...
متن کاملDiaphyseal medullary stenosis with pleomorphic malignant fibrous histiocytoma of the bone: 99mTc hydroxymethylenediphosphonate and 201Tl chloride scintigraphy findings.
Diaphyseal medullary stenosis (DMS) is an extremely rare hereditary bone dysplasia, which was first described by Arnold in 1973. DMS has a high incidence of pleomorphic malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH). In this paper, we report the imaging findings of DMS with pleomorphic MFH of the bone, mainly describing 99mTc hydroxymethylenediphosphonate (HMDP) and thallium-201 (201Tl) chloride scintigr...
